A Thai friend gave me these. These are lemon grass stems, chili peppers and Kaffir lime leaves. This hourglass-shaped leaves are not common in the market but it provides very unique flavor in cooking and it is a must-have for some dishes.

Is this a herb or a vegetable? At least, it is not just a garnish. It does add a color and a nice last touch to many dishes but it has a great flavor and an aroma. It makes great soups, stir fry, tempra and salads of its own as a main ingredient.
I grow herbs in my garden. Some started from seeds but you can find good young plants in a market. I have two types of Parsley, Oregano, 4 types of Basil, Sage, Chives, Rosemary, Dill, 3 types of Mint, Thyme, Tarragon, and Lemon Grass. I will have more in the spring.
